The 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season was a momentous and
challenging year for Porsche, ultimately marking the final campaign of its factory-backed
Hypercar program, run by Porsche Penske Motorsport with the Porsche 963 LMDh
prototype. The season ended with the shock official confirmation of the program's
withdrawal.
The Hypercar field was fiercely competitive, making the quest for the World Championship a
constant struggle for the Porsche 963 against rivals like the Ferrari 499P and the Toyota
GR010 Hybrid.
The primary high point for the factory team was the overall victory secured at the Lone Star
Le Mans in Austin, Texas, where the No. 6 Porsche 963 (Kévin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor, and
Matt Campbell) skillfully navigated chaotic, rain-affected conditions to claim the team’s sole
win of the year.
At the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, the No. 6 car delivered an impressive result,
finishing on the podium in second place, narrowly missing the overall victory. The team
achieved four podiums across the eight-race calendar, a solid, if not dominant, performance.
In the final standings, Porsche Penske Motorsport finished third in the Hypercar
Manufacturers' World Championship.
