Oulton Park Produces Another British Superbike Masterclass
The sixth round of the 2026 British Superbike Championship returned to the iconic Oulton Park circuit, delivering another action-packed weekend of close racing, dramatic overtakes and a significant shake-up in the championship battle. With the fast and flowing Cheshire circuit providing little room for error, riders were forced to push to the limit throughout qualifying and all three races.
Qualifying was fiercely contested as the leading riders traded fastest laps throughout the session. Defending champion Kyle Ryde once again demonstrated his impressive one-lap pace to secure pole position after producing another record-breaking lap around Oulton Park. Bradley Ray lined up alongside him on the front row after finishing just over a tenth behind, while veteran Leon Haslam completed the top three.
Further back, Storm Stacey, Scott Redding, Max Cook, Rory Skinner and Christian Iddon all looked capable of challenging for podium positions, setting the stage for an exciting weekend of racing.
Saturday's opening race immediately produced one of the closest battles of the season. The AJN Steelstock Bimota riders launched brilliantly from the grid, with Max Cook leading into the opening corners before Bradley Ray began working his way forward.
A lead group of six riders formed during the opening laps, swapping positions almost every lap around the narrow Oulton Park circuit. Ray briefly dropped back through the pack before fighting back with several decisive overtaking moves.
In the closing stages, the McAMS Yamaha rider timed his attack perfectly to edge clear and claim victory after an intense battle. Kyle Ryde finished second to limit the championship damage, while Leon Haslam secured another podium in third after a consistently strong ride.
Storm Stacey narrowly missed the podium, while Scott Redding continued his run of solid points finishes.
Sunday's races continued the spectacular action with championship rivals once again battling wheel-to-wheel around the undulating circuit.
Ryde responded strongly after Saturday's defeat, demonstrating impressive race pace and consistency to challenge at the front throughout the day. Bradley Ray remained a constant threat, while Leon Haslam continued to show that experience remains a valuable asset around one of Britain's most demanding circuits.
Scott Redding also enjoyed one of his strongest weekends of the campaign, regularly fighting inside the leading group alongside Storm Stacey, Rory Skinner and Max Cook as every championship point became increasingly valuable.
The Oulton Park weekend further intensified what is becoming one of the closest British Superbike title fights in recent years. Kyle Ryde retained his place at the top of the standings, but Bradley Ray's victory significantly reduced the points gap heading into the next round.
Leon Haslam's consistent podium finishes kept him firmly in championship contention, while Storm Stacey continued his impressive season with another strong haul of points. Scott Redding also strengthened his position as the fight for the Showdown places becomes increasingly competitive.
Oulton Park once again delivered exactly what British Superbikes is renowned for—close racing, fearless overtakes and championship drama. Bradley Ray's outstanding Race One victory proved he remains one of Ryde's biggest rivals, while Ryde's consistency ensured he left Cheshire still leading the championship.
With the season now entering its crucial phase, every point will prove vital as the championship heads towards the Showdown. If Oulton Park is any indication, fans can expect even more unforgettable battles in the rounds ahead.
