The fifth round of the 2026 British Superbike Championship brought another action-packed weekend to the iconic Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, with close racing, dramatic incidents and a fierce championship battle taking centre stage. Fans packed the Kent venue as Kyle Ryde, Scott Redding, Bradley Ray and the rest of the field battled through three fiercely contested races that once again demonstrated why the Bennetts British Superbike Championship remains one of the world's most competitive domestic motorcycle racing series.

Saturday's qualifying session belonged to reigning champion Kyle Ryde, who produced a stunning lap to secure pole position while smashing the previous all-time lap record around the Brands Hatch GP circuit. Ryde timed his run to perfection during Q2, waiting for clear track before delivering the fastest lap of the weekend.

Scott Redding continued his impressive pace from Friday's practice sessions to secure a front-row start alongside Ryde, while Bradley Ray ensured another Yamaha was firmly in the fight at the sharp end of the grid. Max Cook also impressed with another strong qualifying performance to keep himself in podium contention heading into Race One.

The opening race of the weekend was interrupted by a red flag after an incident brought proceedings to a halt, setting up a tense restart over a reduced distance.

When racing resumed, Kyle Ryde and Scott Redding immediately established themselves at the front of the field, exchanging fastest laps as they fought wheel-to-wheel for victory. Bradley Ray remained firmly in contention throughout the race, applying pressure to the leading duo while Max Cook stayed close enough to capitalise on any mistakes.

After a relentless battle, Ryde emerged victorious ahead of Redding, with the pair separated by only a handful of tenths at the chequered flag. Ray completed the podium after another measured performance that kept him firmly in the championship fight.

Sunday's opening race saw Ryde continue his remarkable form. Despite another strong launch from Redding, the championship leader controlled the race from the front, managing tyre wear perfectly while resisting every challenge from the Ducati rider.

Behind the leading pair, Max Cook produced one of his strongest rides of the season. The Bimota rider held off sustained pressure from several experienced rivals to secure another podium finish, highlighting the continued progress of both rider and team.

Bradley Ray remained inside the leading group throughout the race, collecting valuable championship points despite narrowly missing out on the podium positions.

The final race delivered another thrilling conclusion to the weekend. Scott Redding refused to let Ryde complete a clean sweep and attacked from the opening laps, with the pair swapping positions several times during a breathtaking contest.

Redding eventually broke clear during the closing stages to secure victory, denying Ryde a hat-trick of wins. Although forced to settle for second place, Ryde's consistency across all three races earned him the coveted King of Brands title and another significant haul of championship points.

Max Cook once again demonstrated impressive pace to challenge for the podium, while Bradley Ray fought hard throughout the race to remain in the championship hunt as the season moves towards its halfway stage.

Brands Hatch proved another significant weekend in the title race. Ryde's pole position, two victories and second-place finish strengthened his championship challenge, while Redding's race win and consistently strong performances ensured he remained firmly in contention.

Bradley Ray continued to score valuable points despite narrowly missing out on multiple victories, ensuring the championship battle remains far from settled. Riders including Max Cook, Leon Haslam and Christian Iddon also continued to showcase the depth of talent throughout the BSB grid, promising more exciting racing as the championship heads to its next round.

The 2026 Brands Hatch round had everything British Superbikes is famous for—record-breaking qualifying laps, red-flag drama, fierce overtaking and title contenders pushing each other to the limit. With Ryde leaving Kent as the weekend's standout performer but Redding proving he has the speed to fight back, the championship battle looks set to become even more intense over the coming rounds.
