Ford Racing: A New Era

With the 2026 motorsports season quickly approaching, one manufacturer has been causing a storm of conversation among most of the fields. Ford Racing.
January 15th, Ford hosts a massive unveiling of projects, especially in the world of motorsports, revealing the Formula One cars, Red Bull and VCARB, NASCAR, IMSA, WEC, and Dakar.
One of the main conversations is Ford joining the Formula One grid as the engine supplier for Red Bull and sister team VCARB. This has been a conversation since the 2025 season as it has been a while since a new engine supplier has come into the field. It has also been a highly anticipated change into the world of Formula One, seeing how competitive Ford has been in other racing series. Formula One fans have been aching to see how Red Bull and VCARB will perform with the regulations change and switching from Honda to Ford power units.
Ford also unveiled their GT cars that will be competing in IMSA and WEC. With the launch of those two cars for the series also came the official driver line ups for the 4 cars. IMSA car 64 will be driven by Ben Barker, Dennis Olsen, and Mike Rockenfeller. The sister car 65 will be piloted by Frederic Vervisch, Christoper Mies, and Sebastian Priaulx. The WEC driver line up comes with some change from the 2025 season. Two of the Proton Competition drivers made the switch to race in the American series, IMSA. One face added to this year's lineup is one that is well known.
After an amazing rookie test with the team in Bahrain, along with his last two races in IMSA with PR1, Logan Sargeant signed with the American manufactured car. This announcement also came with the 2027 hypercar lineup for Ford. The announcement included: Logan Sargeant, racing in LMGT3 for one season, along with Mike Rockenfeller and Sebastian Prialux also making the 2027 move to the hypercar team.
The announcements and unveiled cars are just the tip of the iceberg of the suspension Ford is building up. They’ve proven from their past and experience in other fields of motorsport that they’re a contender and a team to look out for on track. 2026 will be a season of motorsports that will be worth watching every second of.
