F1 Academy: What to Expect After the Summer Break
As we rapidly approach the start to the second stint of the F1 Academy season, starting again back in Zandvoort on August 21st, attention now turns to the second half of the season, and what we should expect.
Firstly, Palmowski sits comfortably leading the championship. Her pace remains consistently fast, evident in the Zandvoort testing sessions in which she not only topped the tables, but was the only driver to hit a 1:36 lap time.
Moving down the championship standings, its looking hopeful for Larsen, whose confidence boost from her F4 Podium, paired with her improved pace in testing may be the tipping point towards what may hopefully be able to improve her place in the championship.
Two drivers (excluding wild cards), Jacquet and Kosterman are still yet to score points this season, and with only three race weekends left until the champion is crowned, the pressure to preform is beginning to mount. Both will be hoping their pace can translate into points before the season ends.
And let's not forget about the wild cards – after Bättig became the youngest and only wild card to ever achieve a pole position in F1 Academy. This curveball creates an opportunity for some unexpected action in the second half of the season. The potential for future wild cards to disrupt the championship standings is still very much on the table. Now Bättig has proved it's possible, will the wild cards become a continual force to be reckoned with?
With all of these factors bringing us speeding into Zandvoort weekend, the question now is; can Palmowski retain her lead, or will one of her rivals find the pace to challenge her?
One this we know for certain: the second half of the season has plenty to offer.
