It has been announced in the past weeks that Caio Collet, vice champion of Indy NXT, will be joining IndyCar in the #4 A. J. Foyt car for the 2026 season. He joins the team replacing David Malukas, who was announced to be joining Team Penske for the next season.

Collet’s trajectory in motorsport is consistent and successful since karting days. He debuted in single-seaters in 2017, in the F4 Saudi Arabian Championship, and in the next season, he conquered the title in the French F4 Championship, winning 7 of the 21 races. His performance called out Renault Sports Academy attention, a young drivers program, which started to support his international career.

In the next years, Collet raced for Formula Renault Eurocup, where he was vice-champion in 2020, and Toyota Racing Series. He has also disputed three seasons in Formula 3, always finishing in the top 10 and with victories in Hungaroring, Zandvoort and Spa-Francorchamps. In 2023, he acted as the test and reserve driver for Nissan Formula E Team, and has raced the Portland double round replacing Oliver Rowland.

He has started his American motorsport journey in the same year for HMD Motorsports, one of Indy NXT’s biggest strengths. In his rookie season, he conquered a dominant win in Mid-Ohio and finished the championship in 3rd, securing the Rookie of the Year in that season. In 2025, he affirmed himself as one of the greatest names in the category: he won in Road America and twice in Laguna Seca, adding up to three victories, three poles, nine podiums and twelve top 5s, performance that took him to the vice-championship in this season.

The 23-year-old Brazilian driver marks the return of Brazil in IndyCar, who has been absent of a representative since 2024 with Pietro Fittipaldi. Starting in 2026, the country will have a representant simultaneously in both the biggest motorsport categories in the world, with Gabriel Bortoleto in Formula 1 and Caio Collet in Indycar.

According to Caio, having a spot in IndyCar is a dream coming true, a reason to be proud of and to be grateful towards Larry Foyt for the opportunity. He says he’s towards a unique opportunity in his career and thanks all the teams, mechanics, engineers and sponsors who have been with him all throughout his trajectory. Collet says he’s proud to carry the Brazilian flag back to IndyCar, since it’s a traditional category for Brazil.

The driver has started his adaptation to the new category, with successful tests in Mid-Ohio and Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The 2026 season and Collet’s debut is scheduled for March 1st in St. Petesburg, Florida. Next season will count with 17 races, highlighting the epic Indy 500 in May.
